Road map for this year ------------------------- Adhering to our tradition of publicly discussing our road map by the turn of the years, we started our joint brainstorming with suggesting the theme of building bridges as motif of the year. Bridges to other open-source projects. Bridges to a variety of programming languages. Bridges to new user demographies. Bridges for the interoperability of applications. Over the course of four weeks - and thanks the vivid participation of our community - this vague picture evolved into a tangible plan and schedule. Today, we made it official: https://genode.org/about/road-map 2. Our coordinates at FOSDEM'26 ------------------------------- As written in the previous newsletter, we will have a joint stand together with the QubesOS project at this year's FOSDEM. In the meantime, the exact coordinates for the stands have become known. Should you happen to spend your next weekend at FOSDEM like us, you can find us at building H, stand 10, in the neighborhood of many other fellow open-source operating-system projects. https://fosdem.org/2026/stands/ Let me also highlight the agenda for the microkernel developer room, which is organized by our team this year: https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/microkernel/ Looking forward to see you in Brussels! 3. Chemnitzer Linux-Tage in March --------------------------------- The Chemnitzer Linux-Tage is one of the most renowned gatherings of the open-source community in Germany. Its history reaches back to the year 1999! We are thrilled to announce that we will join this fantastic event with a Genode stand for the very first time. https://chemnitzer.linux-tage.de/2026/ 28th and 29th of March 2026 4. Hack'n'Hike in April ----------------------- Genode's cozy Hack'n'Hike event is treasured by us developers and community participants alike. In a small setting, surrounded by beautiful nature, we enjoy getting together while hiking at daylight, and casually pursue Genode-related interests in the evenings. The date and location for this year's Hack'n'Hike is set: Friday 24th to Monday 27th April 2026 nearby Rathen/Germany in Saxon Switzerland https://github.com/genodelabs/genode/issues/5791 Please find the details about the location and the registration for the event in the link above. 5. Genode User Group Dresden ---------------------------- Speaking of the Hack'n'Hike event, last year we had the pleasure of hosting esteemed members of the Dresden chapter of the Chaos Computer Club at our Hack'n'Hike. Their interest in Genode and Sculpt OS has grown to enthusiasm and the urge to use Sculpt OS on personal laptops. One week ago, the group ultimately constituted the first Genode User Group, here in Dresden! https://hedgedoc.c3d2.de/GenodeUserGroupDD# The group plans to meet on regular intervals to assist each other with learning, using, and customizing Sculpt OS. It goes without saying that Genode developers are participating as well. If you are in proximity of Dresden, keep an eye at the calender of the Chaos Computer Club Dresden (C3D2): https://c3d2.de/ About the newsletter -------------------- If you have friends or colleagues who might be interested in our projects, we would appreciate you to forward this email.
