 1. Starting collaboration with Barkhausen Institut
 --------------------------------------------------

The Barkhausen Institute is an independent institute for systems
research in Dresden. It follows the mission to bridge the gap
between academic research at TU Dresden and industry.

In July, we kicked off a joint innovation project that combines
the institute's expertise in the domain of software-defined
radio with Genode's unique operating-system technology. In the
scope of the project, we will expand Genode's notion of component-
based architectures to software-hardware co-design. We believe
that the blurring of the lines between hardware, operating-system
software, and applications paves the ground for tailored solutions
that are unthinkable today. Our initial focus is the enablement
of Genode on widely available Xilinx-based FPGA platforms,
 specifically SDR devices.

The project is funded by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic
 Affairs and Energy.

 2. Genode Labs' 13th anniversary
 --------------------------------

This summer, Genode will have its 13th anniversary, which is a
welcome opportunity to celebrate, review the past year's events,
and enjoy the company of Genode's friends and families.

Despite the difficulties of the global pandemic, the past year
gave us plenty of excitement. In contrast to one year ago, we can
now use the Chromium web engine directly on Sculpt OS, which is a
testament to the maturity of Genode. During the same time frame,
our custom block-encryption solution called CBE has made inroads
into our daily work flows, Genode learned to communicate via LTE,
and the framework became robust against flaky device drivers.
And these topics are just the tip of the iceberg.

With no further ado, we want to celebrate the anniversary together
with the community, friends, and families by holding our
traditional barbecue at the banks of the river Elbe, nearby
